Artist's Comments

Looking back through some older work I found this. It was one of those lucky moments when the atmosphere just made the picture for me.
I was lucky enough to have taken 3 different exposures (this was taken before I knew about HDR) which I have HDRed and tone mapped.

Enjoy.

Very nice. I really like the mood of the image, and for HDR it looks very natural. The Sun star adds a lot to the feeling.

Well captured mood!
Thanks - yes I try to use HDR in a subtle way if at all.

Light waits for no man. You're either out there, or you miss it. Forever.
It's nice work...and I usually hate HDR

More work at andymumford.com
What you hate Andy is badly used HDR - Like every digital technique for image processing HDR requires some learning/mastering and most importantly restraint!!!

Cheers.

Stunning shot, works really well, the lighting is just beautiful. I do find the left side of the image a little oppresive and I dont really think it bring much to the image. I think a 4x5 portrait crop of the center would empasise the strongest aspects of the shot, but of course thats going to lose youa whole load of resoution.
